Infamous Drug Kingpin ‘El Chapo’ Captured by Mexican Marines
Mexican president took to twitter to announce the capture of notorious Mexican drug kingpin, “El Chapo” Guzman.
According to the Mexican newspaper “El Universal”, Joaquin Guzmán Loera, leader of the Sinaloa drug cartel was captured today as Mexican authorities, acting on a tip lead an operation early this morning leading to his capture.
Mexican marines were fired on as they stormed into a home in the town of Los Mochis before dawn resulting in five suspects killed and six others arrested, including the capture of “El Chapo”. Guzman had previously escaped through a tunnel at maximum security prison back in July of 2015 that set off a manhunt for the drug lord.
Mexican President Enrique Peña Nieto took to Twitter earlier today to announce the capture of “El Chapo” tweeting: “Mission Accomplished: We have him. I want to inform all Mexicans that Joaquin Guzmán Loera has been captured.”
