I Got My Mammogram Done – Have You?
We’re heading toward the last days of October, and we’ve been honored to have Las Palmas Del Sol as our website sponsors this breast cancer awareness month. We kicked off the month with the Morning Show’s Annual Pink Ribbon Week, and all month long, there have been posts about breast health….
Today, I did my part to keep myself healthy and got a mammogram! Here’s the mammogram machine…
It looks pretty intimidating, but it’s there to help save your life. Seriously. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve heard women, friends of mine, say, “Oh, it hurts!” Yeah, well 10 seconds - I counted! – of discomfort beats the hell out of breast cancer any day. I am well endowed, and my tissue is very dense, and that means extra squishing, and if I can do it, so can you! And you should! Here I am getting squished…
The person doing the mammogram is always a woman. The room is quiet and private. You stand in front of the machine, put your boobie on the plate, the mammographer gets the proper squish, you hold you breath for 10 seconds, and voila! You’re done! Okay, you have to get squished twice on each breast, so for 40 seconds each year, you’ll be a little uncomfortable. Suck it up and do it!
Don’t let the year pass without getting a mammogram if you are of the age that it is prescribed, and a PAP smear. Your life it too important, YOU are too important, to not get these life saving tests.
NOW HIT IT, SISTAHS!
