Breaking News! San Jacinto Plaza is being overrun with Pikachus, Squirtles, and Bulbasaurs and the City of El Paso Parks and Recreation Departments is asking for the public’s help.

Pokémon trainers of all ages and levels are being urged to help “catch ’em all” at the Parks & Rec’s “Pokémon – Catch ‘em all” event this Friday, September 16, from 6 to 11 p.m.

In case you’ve been out of touch with current events over the last few months, Pokémon Go is the latest rage. The virtual game takes you on a scavenger hunt in real-life places so you can find and collect Pokémon characters. One of those real-life places in El Paso is Downtown El Paso.

Other than the UTEP campus, I don’t know of anywhere else in the city where you can locate, catch, and battle more of the virtual critters in one place than in and around the plaza area.

Friday's " Pokémon – Catch 'em all" is in conjunction with and part of the city's Dies y Seis de Septiembre Celebration, which you can read more about HERE.
