Cervical cancer is shown to have dropping rates in those who have had the HPV vaccine and it's exciting news. HPV or Human papillomavirus causes almost all cases of cervical cancer. This is why New Mexico is studying whether more kids vaccinated against HPV means fewer cancer patients.

Dr. Cosette Wheeler of the UNM Comprehensive Cancer Center reports that New Mexico is the only state who has this type of study right now in surveying the results of this kind of procedure and it is all because of a partnership with the New Mexico Department of Health. The study found that the younger the women, the more significant the decrease in cervical cancer. The studies will continue to be surveillanced in hopes that this will be a breakthrough in cervical cancers.
