What To Do If Alexa Scares The Hell Out Of You With An Evil Laugh

If you have Alexa in your home, you know that she is always listening, always ready to help you turn your lights on and off, write an item on your grocery shopping list, and play your favorite music. What you probably didn't know is that she is also evil.

People have been freaking out over the evil laugh that has sometimes come rolling out of Alexa recently. Amazon said, at first, that they knew she was doing that, but didn't know why. Now, it turns out that Amazon has figured out why the Alexa was trying to scare the hell out of you with that laugh, and they know how to fix it.

Or her. Fix her. Whatever.

So, how do you prevent Alexa from summoning the devil with her laugh? She might be hearing “Alexa, laugh” even when that’s not what was said, so she laughs. Amazon has changed Alexa's prompt to laugh to “Alexa, can you laugh” which will hopefully stop her from mishearing the command. She will also say, "Sure, I can laugh" so you can get a heads up that she is going to do that.
