If you would like to have your pet spayed or neutered but you can’t afford the cost, the Department of Animal Services wants to help you. They've been given 100 free spay and neuter vouchers and they want to distribute them to low-income families who want to spay or neuter their pets.

In order to qualify for the program, you will need:

A government issued ID
Proof of enrollment in a financial assistance program like WIC, CHIP, SNAP, Medicaid, Medicare, or have a Social Security Income Unemployment letter

You'll only have ten working days to use your voucher if you are approved. If you don't use it within that time, it will be voided and given to another qualifying household. The vouchers can only be used at the Department of Animal Services Socorro Clinic at 9060 Socorro Rd., or the Spay & Neuter Clinics of Texas, at 1160 Airway.

You can get your voucher at the Animal Services Shelter at 5001 Fred Wilson, Monday through Friday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., but it is on a first come, first serve basis.
