For over 50 years, summer in El Paso has meant the El Paso Police Department's Safety Town. It is a week long class for kids ages five and six years old.

Officers with the El Paso Police Department and youth volunteers will conduct the classes, and guest speakers from the El Paso Fire Department, U.S. Customs and Border Patrol, Drowning Prevention Coalition of El Paso, El Paso Electric, City of El Paso Animal Services, and YISD will also be part of the classes held. The topics will include stranger danger, drug awareness, fire safety, bike safety, and drowning prevention.

The classes run each week from Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. - noon. Each participant will go through a graduation ceremony on Friday, and kids will get a free helmet and t-shirt.

You can register you kids at Bassett Place Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. at the Mall Office. Log on to ShopBassettPlace.com to print an application. You do have to submit the applications in person along with proof of your child's age.
