Visit any of the eleven GECU locations around town and check out one of the Brooms for the Cure, and you can get signed up to win tickets to see the Broadway Blockbuster, WICKED at the Plaza Theatre!

Eleven pairs of tickets will be awarded, one from each GECU location, plus one pair of deluxe tickets to the opening night show!

Thanks to everyone who came out a partied with us for That 80′s Party at the Holiday Inn Airport! Everyone danced and partied on 5 different stages with DJs, bands and contests!

What is known for sure is that police were called to Winehouse’s apartment shortly before 4 pm Saturday responding to a report of a “woman found deceased.” According to reports, Winehouse was found in her bed by one of her security people, who was hired to look after.

How amazing is Billy Means of Mesa St. Grill?

He is truly amazing!  Billy made time to come into our KISS Studios – taking time before his busy lunch rush to prepare lunch for me!

He prepared an Atlantic Salmon Salad with blackberrys, strawberrys, green apple, candied pecans on a spinach bed with a lite pomegrante vinegrette.

A girl can get used to this kind of service! Especially Moms on Mothers Day!

MIKE & TRICIA’S ANNUAL EASTER BASKET DRIVE SURPASSES GOAL OF 500 BASKETS!!!: Thanks to YOU, we not only hit our goal of 500 Easter baskets in record time, we surpassed it by SEVERAL HUNDRED!!! 

Because of your kindness, we’ll be able to provide hundreds of homeless, underprivileged, neglected and abused children in our area  the joy of having their own Easter basket this Easter Sunday. Children who otherwise wouldn’t be getting one.

Thanks to you, we were able to help the following agencies and organizations this year: Child Crisis Center, Rescue Mission, Center Against Family Violence, Center for Children,  Child Protective Services, Aliviane, Salvation Army, The Transitional Living Center, Housing Authority of Santa Teresa, Childrens Behavioral Health Center, University Medical Center Pediatric Oncology Department, Immaculate Conception Church, Sacred Heart Church … and counting!

We’d also like to recognize Hornedo Middle School’s Advanced Placement Algebra class, Cathedral High School’s Spanish Honor Society, Loretto Elementary Pre-K and fourth graders, and Del Norte Elementary. Their Easter basket drives  on our behalf accounted for over 85% of the baskets donated!

BREAKING NEWS!!! SCREEN ICON ELIZABETH TAYLOR HAS PASSED AWAY: ELIZABETH TAYLOR died in Los Angeles today of congestive heart failure at age 79.  Taylor was born in London to American parents. Her mother was a stage actress who gave up the limelight for motherhood, and her father was an art dealer. Taylor spent the first seven years of her life in England, but the family fled to Los Angeles when war rumblings began in 1939.

In Tinseltown, the young Taylor soon shot a screen test for Universal Studios and landed a contract. Her first role came at age 10 in the 1942 short film There’s One Born Every Minute. Universal dropped her shortly after, but she quickly found a home at M-G-M, and her first big production was 1943′s Lassie Come Home. Superstardom came with the 1944 equestrian classic National Velvet. She went on to appear in a string of successful films and at age 22 starred opposite James Dean in the hit Giant.

Taylor got her first Oscar nomination in 1945 for the drama Raintree Country and was again nominated in 1958 for Cat on a Hot Tin Roof. She lost both. She would end her Oscar losses by playing a call girl in 1960′s Butterfield Eight. After taking a few years off from film, Taylor came back to the big screen in one of the most expensive productions to date, 1963′s Cleopatra, for which she got a whopping one-million-dollar salary. She would get her second Oscar in 1967 for the drama Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf?

Off screen, Taylor’s troubles were legendary. She was married eight times, twice to Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf co-star Richard Burton. Her other husbands were hotel heir Nicky Hilton, actor Michael Wilding, producer Michael Todd, singer Eddie Fisher, U.S. senator John Warner and trucker Larry Fortensky. She also weathered decades of drug and alcohol abuse.

Taylor is survived by four adult children — three natural-born and one adopted.
