A new checked baggage area will be designated due to construction over the next couple of years at the El Paso International Airport.

According to the El Paso International Airport a new temporary Checked Bag Drop-Off Area will be set up during construction and will be located in the main lobby of the airport terminal in the interim.

As far as how this will impact travelers, the El Paso International Airport has provided some guidance for travelers with the following:

  • Beginning June 6, 2017, Checked Baggage will no longer be dropped off at the airline ticket counter.
  • Travelers with checked baggage must first check in at airline ticket counter prior to dropping bags off at the Checked Bag Drop location in the main lobby of the airport terminal.
  • Travelers will need to allow for extra time during peak travel times; it is recommended to arrive at least 2 hours prior to flight’s departure time.

The El Paso International Airport is improving it’s baggage area as part of new security screenings and to allow for faster delivery of luggage to aircraft.
