Aircraft enthusiasts don’t miss your chance to fly onboard a vintage aircraft this weekend in New Mexico.

The Experimental Aircraft Association is touring a 1928 Ford Tri-Motor airliner this weekend and the public is invited to jump on board and experience a flight.

I had the chance to board the beautiful and well-maintained aircraft and spoke with Captain Bill Sleeper about the Ford Tri-Motor model plane. According to Sleeper, there are only six of these particular planes in operation today. The Ford Tri-Motor airliner was used as public transportation back in its time and actually led to the first hotel, the Dearborn Inn, which was designed and built to accommodate air travelers. Sleeper also shared with me that the fare to book a flight on the airliner averaged about $251 back in 1928, which is the equivalent of about $3,562.49 today.

You too can catch a ride onboard the Ford model aircraft this weekend. The tour continues this weekend in Truth or Consequences through January 13, 2019.
