Father Of Washington State Sun Bowl Player Dies In El Paso

There is some terribly sad news out of last month's Sun Bowl. The father of a Washington State football player has died. Riley Sorenson is Washington State's center, and his father, Bart, and other family members came to El Paso to watch him play in the Sun Bowl last month, but he suffered a heart attack before the game.

Riley was told of his father's condition moments before the game and left before playing to be with his father at Providence Hospital. The family has been in El Paso ever since to be with Bart. Sadly, Bart passed away on Tuesday afternoon.

A GoFundMe page was set up to help the family cover medical bills and other financial obligations. The Sorenson family is also dealing with the recent diagnosis of Riley's mother's Stage 4 melanoma. She was able to make the trip to El Paso with her family.
