If you have kids who attend Mac Arthur or Burges High Schools, you know that there were some pretty scary moments during the school day on Friday.  Both schools were put on lockdown after reports of an armed man on the Mac Arthur campus.  Because of that, there will be an increased police presence at the schools today.

A custodian at MacArthur reported seeing a suspicious person with a gun at MacArthur, and officials moved quickly to put the school and the nearby Burges High School campus on lockdown.  Police searched the area in vehicles and in helicopters, and officers could be seen patroling the area armed with rifles.

Police cars surrounded MacArthur and yellow tape ringed the school, but officers did not find the suspect.  The search was eventually called off around 5 o’clock Friday afternoon.

Usually one EPISD officer is assigned to each campus, but today there will be extra officers patrolling the campuses throughout the day.
