Ex-Las Cruces School Janitor Pleads Guilty to Child Pornography

A former janitor at a Las Cruces elementary school has pleaded guilty to federal child pornography.

32-year-old David Anaya Garcia entered his guilty plea Monday in federal court. He was arrested last year in July from a criminal complaint that he was distributing child pornography and was in possession of child pornography. Las Cruces police and federal authorities arrested Garcia after executing a search warrant at his home.

Garcia admitted to distributing child pornography through file sharing on his computer software from March 2015 to April 2015 while he was employed at the school. At sentencing, Garcia faces up to 20 years in federal prison.
