Events by EventfulBug Awareness
The Zoo will feature live bugs from North and South America, Africa, and Asia. Come explore the world of bugs and find a new respect for the six + legged creatures of the land.
And don’t miss out on our most popular activity- bug cooking and tasting with the Zoo’s Executive Chef Miguel Guillen. Zoo guests will be able to enjoy unique food items such as Roasted Leaf Cutter Ants, Cricket Chip Cookies, Thai Grasshopper Stir Fry, Cinnamon Wax Worm Crunch, and Sweet Cricket Popcorn. Learn how you can make these delicacies at home from our very own chef. (Time and location of bug cooking and tasting TBD.)
Live bug displays will be set up throughout the Zoo at the El Paso Water Utilities Discovery Center, El Paso Electric Kalahari Research Station, and Asia Discovery Center for all to see. Check out the new species of bugs this year including Tanzanian Redclawed scorpion, Brazilian black tarantula, a Giant African Millipede and many more.
Other activities include “Amazing Bug Stories” and arts & crafts. Don’t forget to bring a towel to cool off in the Hunt Family Desert Spring splash pad or monkey around at the Foster Tree House Playground.
