Following the onset of a “rare and potentially deadly” infection, Elton John is on the mend. The “Crocodile Rock” singer is “expected to make a full and complete recovery,” according to a statement released from his team as reported by ET.

John had been on a flight home from his South American tour when he fell violently ill. He then spent two nights in the ICU and additional days in the hospital upon arriving back in the United Kingdom. John had to cancel upcoming tour dates and has been on bed rest.

In the aforementioned statement, the star said, “I am so fortunate to have the most incredible and loyal fans and apologize for disappointing them. I am extremely grateful to the medical team for their excellence in looking after me so well.”
