El Pasoans Fighting Hunger, formerly the West Texas Food Bank, are asking for your help in an online competition that could benefit El Paso's only food bank.

Wal-Mart selected 200 Food Banks that service areas across the country with the highest unemployment rates to compete for a donation, and El Paso is one of them. The corporate giant will donate $1 million to the area with the most votes and $50,000 to the 20 runners-up.

Why they have chosen to turn hunger relief into a competition and not just take the two million dollars and evenly disperse them is a discussion for another time. For now, it is what it is.

Listen to Mike and Tricia discuss the online competition...

El Paso currently sits in 3rd place trailing Fresno, California by about 2,000 votes.

There is no reason why we can't get behind feeding the hungry at the same level Facebook members and the media has gotten behind the online competition to host the Social Media Tourism Symposium!   Visit http://goo.gl/p8OZG to vote for El Paso.
