El Paso’s Khalid Wins Best New Artist at MTV VMA’s

Congrats to Khalid, Best New Artist winner at this year’s MTV Video Music Awards and also gives El Paso a shout out!

Khalid opened up the MTV VMA’s pre-show with a medley of his latest hits ‘Location’ and ‘Young, Dumb & Broke,’ to a screaming and eager crowd on Sunday evening at the Forum in Los Angeles.

Khalid was nominated for Best New Artist and was up against:

• Kodak Black
• SZA
• Young M.A
• Julia Michaels
• Noah Cyrus

Khalid’s single Location from his debut album American Teen has been certified Platinum and come September will join up with Lorde during her UK/EU tour. Although Khalid was not born in El Paso, he claims the city as his home after spending his senior year attending America’s high school and during an interview at the MTV VMA’s gave props to El Paso for being so supportive. We couldn’t be happier for Khalid and wish him continued success as he forges his way through his musical career.
