El Pasoan Elia Esparza saw her dreams of becoming a pop star come closer to reality on Monday night’s (Sept. 26) episode of the reality singing competition "The Voice."

Singing the Tejano music classic "Como La Flor" by Selena y Los Dinos, the Americas High School graduate got three of the four music superstar judges to hit their button for her.

Coach Adam Levine was the first to turn his chair, hitting his button thirty seconds into the song. The Maroon 5 frontman thanked Esparza for “being different,” and called her song choice “refreshing.”

Miley Cyrus was also impressed by Elia’s decision to take a risk and perform in Spanish, declaring artists who “stay true to who they are” will get far.

Blake Shelton acknowledged his country music background and Elia’s desire to do pop music “might not seem to be the right pairing,” but tried to sway Elia’s decision to hop aboard Team Shelton by saying he didn’t think that mattered and that as her coach he’d try to make her “stand out above the competition.”

After professing her love for both Miley and Blake, the 23 year-old chose Adam to be her coach.

Elia posted her excitement on making it onto The Knockout Rounds on Instagram, writing she was “happy to be with Team Adam” and “proud to represent Latinos” and her hometown, "El Paso, TX."
