El Pasoan Elia Esparza’s Journey on ‘The Voice’ is Over
After a battle rounds showdown on The Voice, El Pasoan Elia Esparza was eliminated on Tuesday night (Oct. 11) losing to fellow Adam Levine team member Ponciano Seoane.
The vocal duel between Esparza and Seoane, who sang Tenerife Sea by Ed Sheeran, was aired as part of montage so all viewers got to see was a few seconds of their battle and Levine declaring Ponciano the winner. Although a "steal" would have kept her on the show, none of the other coaches added her to their team.
After the show aired, Elia, who is an Americas High School graduate, expressed her gratitude on social media and called the experience "truly life changing." She also praised her "Battle Round" partner, urging him to “kill it in the knockouts.”
“Should've been a steal,” he tweeted back. “Because there's no way you deserved to go home.”
@mseliamaria we outright slayed that stage! Should've been a steal, because there's no way you deserved to go home.

Even though Elia’s time on the show was short lived, she was one of only 48 contestants chosen for Season 11 of the NBC reality show singing competition.
