El Paso Zoo – 35 acres of fun and adventure featuring exotic animals from around the world and family attractions such as the African Star Train, the Hunt Family Desert Spring splash pad, and the Foster Tree House Playground. 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., 4001 E. The Kicker Monster Truck Show and Arenacross Series – Monster Trucks scheduled to appear (subject to change) are Jester, Razin Kane, Unnamed and Untamed, Nasty Boy, Ghost Ryder, and La Chica Loca, plus, Pro and Amateur Arenacross and motocross racing. Mexican Food Cook-off – This isn’t just a cook-off, it’s a fiesta! The event features a car show and entertainment by Mariachi Los Arrieros, and the Battle of the Rock N Roll Mariachis. 4 p.m. to 11 p.m. at Union Plaza, Downtown. Admission is $3 or FREE with a Metro PCS Pass available at all Metro PCS locations while supplies last. More Details

La Union Corn Maze – In addition to the 13 acre cornfield maze, the farm features a mini-maze for the kids, tractor-pulled wagon rides to the pumpkin patch, an farm animal corral, cow train, pedal cars and other family activities, plus concessions. 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. in La Union, N.M., Highway 28 next to Zin Valle Winery. Friday at the Fire – Live music by local bands set against the ambiance of the Freedom Crossing at Ft. Bliss outdoor fireplace. 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. Tonight, Team Havana (salsa).

Oktoberfest at Ft. Bliss –The event will spotlight German beer, food, music and dancers. 6 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. at Biggs Park, 11388 Sergeant Major Blvd on East Fort Bliss. 21+ only will be admitted. Admission is $35 and limited to first 2,500 only (includes collectable beer stein, and full German meal). More Details
