Here’s what’s going on in and around El Paso this weekend, June 27 – June 29, 2014. Some events are free, the others will cost you a few bucks:

FRIDAY:

Friday at the Fire – Live music by local bands set against the ambiance of the Freedom Crossing at Ft. Bliss outdoor fireplace. 6 – 11 p.m. FREE. This week, Trailerband (outlaw country).

Alfresco! Fridays – Fresh-air performances from local bands playing various genres of music. 6 p.m. on the Convention Center Plaza. FREE. This week, Sobredosis del Sabor (salsa, cumbia). More Details

El Paso Chihuahuas Baseball – El Paso’s Triple A team hosts the Tacoma Rainiers. Jersey Pin Collector Series #4 to the first 2,000 fans with paid admission. Game time is 7:05 p.m. at Southwest University Park on Santa Fe Street in Downtown El Paso. Ticket prices vary. More Details

El Paso Playhouse Presents ‘Old Hams’ – El Paso’s longest running Community Theater kicks off its 51st season with the comedy ‘Old Hams.’ The story revolves around a group of retired actors about to lose their retirement home, and the hijinks they get into trying to save it. Showtime is 8 p.m. at the El Paso Playhouse, 2501 Montana. Ticket prices vary. More Details

SATURDAY:

Farmer’s Market at Ardovino’s Desert Crossing – The “producers only” market features area farmers, backyard gardeners and artisans selling organic and pesticide-free vegetables, locally-made goat cheeses, natural free range chickens and eggs, native plants for home and yard, fresh-baked breads and salsas. 7:30 a.m. to noon. Downtown Artist and Farmers Market – The market offers the chance to shop for original arts and crafts and regionally grown produce in an outdoor setting while enjoying entertainment featuring local artists, food vendors and free activities for the entire family. 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Union Plaza District (near The Garden Restaurant) along Anthony Street. El Paso Chihuahuas Baseball– El Paso’s Triple A team hosts the Tacoma Rainiers. Fireworks, presented by 93.1 KISS-FM, will follow after the game. Game time is 7:05 p.m. at Southwest University Park on Santa Fe Street in Downtown El Paso. Ticket prices vary. More Details

Dancing In the City – The outdoor dance/concert series includes a dance lesson at 7:00 p.m. and a live music performance from 8:00 – 10:00 p.m. In the Convention Center Plaza next to Abraham Chavez Theatre. FREE. This week, Sangre Gitana (Flamenco).

Ultimate Old School Jam – Malo, ZAPP, The Delfonics, Heatwave and Peaches & Herb have reunited (and it feels so good) to take you back in the day. 7:30 p.m. at UTEP’s Don Haskins Center. Ticket prices vary. More Details

Neon Paint Party at Wet n Wild Waterworld – All the Wet ‘N’ Wild Waterworld rides you know and love as well paint waring, electronic dance music by 3LAU and some of El Paso’s favorite local DJ’s. 8 p.m. to 2 a.m. at Wet ‘N’ Wild, 8804 S. Desert Blvd, Anthony, Texas. Prices vary. More Details

KC & the Sunshine Band Concert – ‘70s dance band best known for the disco hits “That’s the Way (I Like It)”, “(Shake, Shake, Shake) Shake Your Booty”, and “Get Down Tonight” perform an all-ages show at the Socorro Entertainment Center, 11200 Santos Sanchez, off Socorro Road, 4.5 miles southeast of Loop 375. El Paso Chihuahuas Baseball – El Paso’s Triple A team hosts the Tacoma Rainiers. The first 2,000 fans with paid admission receive a team poster, plus kid’s run the bases postgame. Music under the Stars – Pack a picnic and take the family to the Chamizal National Memorial for an evening of music and dancing under the stars.7:30pm to 9:30pm. FREE. This week, Sha’vonne (R&B/Variety). More Details

Melodies at the Park – This annual series highlights a variety of local acts while showcasing some of the city’s parks. Bring your lounge chairs. There will be food vendors on site. 7:30 – 9:30 p.m. FREE.
