Here’s what’s going on in and around El Paso this weekend, April 11 – April 13, 2014.Some events are free, some will cost you a few bucks:

FRIDAY:

El Paso RV and Travel Show – Hundreds of motorhomes, travel trailers, fifth-wheels, truck campers, and folding campers will be on display, plus the latest in camping accessories, and information on campgrounds and travel destinations, as well as daily seminars and entertainment. 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. at the El Paso Convention Center. Admission varies. More Details

Live Horse Racing – The live horse racing season’s final weekend at Sunland Park Racetrack & Casino. Post time is 12:55 p.m. Free general admission and parking. More Details

Friday at the Fire – Enjoy an evening of live music set against the ambiance of the Freedom Crossing outdoor fireplace. Tonight, Joe Barron Band (country). 6- 11 p.m. at Freedom Crossing at Fort Bliss, 1611 Haan Road. FREE.

UTEP’s Get Reel Film Series – Get Reel (previously Cinema Novo) presents independent and educational films as well as blockbuster movies for as little as $1. Tonight’s movie is Instructions Not Included. 7 p.m., UTEP Union Cinema, 500 W. University. Admission is $1 – $2. More Details

Ice Skating – Whoosh around on ice skates in the area’s largest public ice skating rink. 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. in the Sierra Providence Event Center, 4100 E Paisano, behind the El Paso County Coliseum. Cost: $8, $6 Military. Admission includes skate rental. More Details

El Paso Playhouse Presents ‘Dial ‘M’ For Murder’ – El Paso Playhouse presents the classic crime-thriller about a man who arranges to have his wife murdered. 8 p.m. at the El Paso Playhouse, 2501 Montana. Ticket prices vary. More Details

SATURDAY:

Downtown Artist and Farmers Market – The market offers the chance to shop for original arts and crafts and regionally grown produce in an outdoor setting while enjoying entertainment featuring local artists, food vendors and free activities for the entire family. 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Union Plaza District (near The Garden Restaurant) along Anthony Street. Free parking. More Details

Winter Market at Ardovino’s Desert Crossing – The “producers only” market features area farmers, backyard gardeners and artisans selling organic and pesticide-free vegetables, locally-made goat cheeses, natural free range chickens and eggs, native plants for home and yard, fresh-baked breads and salsas. 9 a.m. – 2 p.m. (575) 589-0653, ext. 3

El Paso Zoo’s Party for the Planet – Celebrate our amazing planet and party animal-style, all while learning how you can help to protect all life on Earth. Festivities include Backyard Biologist, Airborne Adventure inflatable, local conservation organizations and special animal programs. 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., El Paso Zoo, 4001 E. Paisano. Zoo admission varies. More Details

Freedom Crossing Family Play Date – The family-themed event begins with a showing of “Stuart Little” at the Grand Theatre at 10 a.m. Tickets for all ages are $3.50 and include a kid’s size popcorn and soda. FREE activities for kids including a giant inflatable slide, Stuart Little face painting and art project, balloon animals and more starts at 11 a.m. in the Play Area and runs through 2 p.m. Freedom Crossing, 11611 Haan Road at Ft. Bliss.

La Bohème’ – The El Paso Opera concludes its season with the Giacomo Puccini opera, one of the most frequently performed worldwide. It’s based on the novel “Scènes de la vie de bohème,” a collection of vignettes portraying young bohemians living in the Latin Quarter of Paris in the 1840s. 7:30 p.m. at Abraham Chavez Theatre, 1 Civic Center Plaza, downtown. Concordia Cemetery Ghost Tour – The Paso del Norte Paranormal Society will hold a paranormal investigation of Concordia Cemetery from 9 to 11 p.m. Admission: $10; 13 and older. Proceeds go toward restoration and preservation of the cemetery. More Details
