El Paso Weatherman Victim of Domestic Violence

The El Paso Time is reporting that Mark Mathis, the morning weatherman for Channel 9-KTSM, was assaulted by his girlfriend, El Paso chef Sara Horowitz. Horowitz is best known for her 2006 appearance on Gordon Ramsay's cooking competition show "Hell's Kitchen" in which she came in third.

The Times notes that Mathis alleged Horowitz punched his right eye, breaking his glasses, and kicked him after he became angry at her "for spilling a cooler full of food" and flipping her hat off her head. Although he filed a report with the Westside Regional Command Center, Mathis didn't want to pursue prosecution. However, The Times points out that under Texas law dealing with family violence, state prosecutors may choose to prosecute on their own.
