Starting early morning on Thursday, August 6, 2015, Stiles Drive will be closed to traffic between Carolina Drive and Dodge Road.

The closure is necessary to allow for utility work related to the coming reconstruction of the Carolina Drive Bridge. The project includes demolition of the existing bridge and construction of a new one which will consist of two 11-foot lanes (one in each direction), 5-and-a-half foot wide sidewalks in each direction, turn lanes and intersections, and a striped median.

The lane closures will allow contractors to undertake utility relocations necessary for the reconstruction of the Carolina Drive Bridge over the Union Pacific Railroad tracks and the Franklin Canal. That project is scheduled to begin in 2016.

While the utility work takes place property owners will still have access to their property at all times during the closure. Stiles Drive is scheduled to re-open by the following Monday.
