If you are an El Paso steampunk who is looking for a place to call your own, check out the Victorian Sci-Fi Book and Tea Club at the historic Magoffin Home in downtown El Paso.

The Magoffin Home is one of the city’s treasures, and an amazing example of how restoration and upkeep of historic sites enhance El Paso. The Magoffin family has been in El Paso since the mid-1800s, and they were instrumental in developing El Paso into the city it is today, but the Magoffin Home isn't just a part of El Paso's past, they are very much a part of the present.

The historic home is hosting the Victorian Sci-Fi Book and Tea Club to discuss George Chesney's book 'The Battle of Dorking'. The book was written in 1871, and can be downloaded for free at Project Gutenberg Australia. The book is a novella and is a quick read. It is considered to be "an important precursor of science fiction."

The story is really interesting, and I imagine a discussion with people in steampunk attire at one of the oldest homes in El Paso will also be interesting. Check it out!
