Alright, who is ready to start the new year without any library fines!! Well, there’s a catch though but it’s not a bad catch at all.

The El Paso Public Libraries is giving library card holders the chance to pay their overdue fines all while giving back to those in need in our community with their Food for Fines initiative.

Here's how it works:

For every can of food or every two pounds of pet food you toss into the yellow bin at any branch library, El Paso Public Libraries will slash a cool $1 off your book fines.

This generous act of clearing fines isn't just about your guilty pleasure reads; it's also about lending a helping hand to those in need. All the food collected between Jan. 2 and Jan. 20 will be the superhero fuel for the Opportunity Center for the Homeless and El Paso Animal Services.

You can drop off your donations at any library location and help our city with their mission to fill a whopping 15 food bins this year!
