El Paso Police Offering Free VIN Etching To Help Prevent Vehicle Theft

There is nothing worse than getting your car stolen, but the El Paso Police Department is giving you the chance to make it less attractive to thieves. They are offering to etch your VIN on your vehicle for free.

Your VIN is the vehicle identification number, and by etching it permanently on the glass of the vehicle, it makes it harder to sell the parts of your car, which is what happens to a lot of stolen vehicles. It could also help police recover your stolen vehicle from a chop shop.

The etching is free and it could also help you get an insurance discount from your vehicle’s theft coverage.
