El Paso Police Arrest Hit-And-Run Driver Who Ran Over 4 Year Old Boy

Earlier this year, a 4 year old boy was hit by a truck and the driver fled the scene. It was reported that the boy was with his dad and stepped away from the curb while his father was paying for treats from an ice cream truck when the truck sped down the street and hit the little boy.

El Paso Police say 32-year-old Joshua David Avila turned himself in on Monday after getting a tip from a citizen.

4-year-old Jace Contreras had to stay in the hospital for some time because of the injuries he sustained. Video from a surveillance camera from a nearby home caught the image of Avila's vehicle and face.

Avila was booked into the El Paso County Detention Center Monday on a warrant for accident involving personal injury or death and five outstanding municipal traffic warrants. His bond was set at $3,000.
