Everyone is invited to the El Paso Museum of History to learn about the origins of Dia de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) during a free lecture at 2 p.m. on Saturday, October 1, 2016.

El Dia de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) is a widely celebrated in Mexico and the United States where family and friends gather to remember those who have passed, and help support their spiritual journey with offerings and prayers.

Visitors will learn about the history of the fall celebration from associate professor of History at the University of Texas at El Paso, Dr. Yolanda Chávez Leyva, who specializes in Mexican-American history.
