El Paso Mom Says Her Daughter Was ‘Slut Shamed’ By Coronado High School Assistant Principal

The dress code, and assistant principal, of Coronado High School are under fire today by a mother who says her daughter was 'slut shamed' for an outfit she wore to school earlier this week.

17 year old Hannah Storey-Gore said she was wearing an outfit including a black skirt and thick black tights that she had worn to school before, but on Monday, Assistant Principal Deborah Jones said the skirt was too short.

Hannah said that as Jones walked her to the front office, she yelled at her and laughed about her with a male security guard, in full view of other students.  She also said that Jones told her to use a dollar bill to measure her skirt from knee to hemline, but Hannah said that sounded like something a stripper would do because dollar bills aren't measuring implements.  An EPISD spokesman said Hannah was given the chance to change, but chose not to.  Renee de Santos went on to say that the school was "looking into the concern".

Hannah's mother says she is going to file a complaint about the incident, saying her daughter was 'slut shamed' by Jones, and treated like she was being indecent even though she was wearing thick tights under her skirt.
