The El Paso International Airport has opened a new Service Animal Relief Area located in Concourse B for traveling pets.

The new Service Animal Relief Area at the El Paso International Airport was created especially for passengers and their service animals so they would not have to repeat the TSA screening process to use a facility, especially after arriving or when making a connecting flight and is conveniently located within the secured area.

This is not the airport’s first service animal relief area. The other is located in the short-term parking lot across from the terminal which includes shade, water, and disposal supplies. However, the new service area which is located in Concourse B, is enclosed and is equipped with water, ventilation and drainage systems, artificial grass, mock fire hydrant and supplies for disposal of animal waste.

For everyone’s safety, traveling pet companions must remain under leash control while in the relief area and all waste must be picked up by the animal’s owners. This enhancement complies with the recent federal requirements for airports to provide Service Animal Relief Areas for service animals that accompany passengers.

Those traveling with family pets are also welcome to use relief areas. The policy and pricing for traveling with pets vary by airline and travelers should contact their airline ahead of time. With the exception of certified service animals, pets in all other areas of the airport terminal must remain in their kennels and ready for travel.
