‘Movies by the Lake’ Returns to Ascarate Park In May

“Movies by the Lake” is getting a sequel. El Paso County will once again be rolling out the two-movie series at Ascarate Park beginning mid-May.

The outdoor event features first run films shown on an inflatable screen set up near the waterfront across from the pavilion on R.E. Thomason Road. The series will open Friday, May 15 with a free showing of “Pitch Perfect”. The following Friday, May 22, Disney’s “Big Hero 6” will be screened.

Not only can you enjoy a movie under the stars, you can dine alfresco as well and grab a bite to eat from one or all of the food trucks that will be on site serving up their specialties. Among them will be Sweet Addiction Cupcakes, Grill on the Go, The Barking Hot Dog, El Jefe Taqueria, and Kona Ice. You’re more than welcome to bring your own snacks, though. But no alcohol. Blankets and lawn chairs, however, are permitted.

Although the movie is free, there will be a $5 per car park entry fee. You can find a few more details HERE.
