El Paso County Debuts ‘Movies By the Lake’ at Ascarate This Weekend

El Paso County will be giving you an opportunity to get outdoors, eat, relax and watch a great movie this weekend. The county's free movie experiment debuts Saturday, May 11,  at the newly renovated Ascarate Park.The two-movie series titled “El Paso County Presents Movies by the Lake” will open with a free showing of the Sandra Bullock movie “The Blind Side.”

Along with the free movie, you can also grab a bite to eat from one of the six food trucks that will be on site. But you don’t have buy from them, you’re more than welcome to bring your own food. No alcohol, though! Blankets and lawn chairs, however, will be permitted. And although the movie is free, you’ll still have to cough up the $1 per car park entry fee.

The following Saturday, May 18, the latest Daniel Craig James Bond flick “Skyfall” will be screened. If both movies are well attended, then more movies will follow. For more details, or if you have questions,visit the Movies by the Lake Facebook page.
