A carnival scheduled for this weekend at the El Paso County Coliseum has been postponed in the wake of an accident that killed a 16-year-old girl on Friday at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church.

Brian Kennedy, the president and CEO of the El Paso Sports Commission said it felt appropriate to postpone the carnival, and that it might not happen until the end of the summer. He went on to say that the company that was going to put on the carnival at the Coliseum is not the same company that did the St. Thomas Aquinas church carnival.

16-year-old Samantha Aguilar, a student at Hanks High School, was killed Friday evening when she was thrown from a spinning carnival ride at St. Thomas Aquinas Church.
