Water parks and and splash pads won’t be the only places to get relief from the heat Memorial weekend.

The Ascarate Park Aquatic Center and one of the city-run outdoor pools will also be making their summer debut this weekend as well.

Beginning Saturday, May 28, the outdoor pool located inside the Lower Valley county park will open to the public for water fun in the hot El Paso sun.

The Ascarate Aquatic Center houses an Olympic size outdoor pool as well as a small pool for children. Adding to the fun factor are slides for kids and adults, and an enclosed picnic area with shaded BBQ grills.

Open Swim will be broken up into two sessions this Saturday and Sunday, May 28-29; 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Monday, May 30, the swim sessions will be from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m., and 3 p.m. to 5 p.m.

The cost is $3 for 18 and older, $2 for everyone younger.

The two other El Paso County outdoor pools, Veterans Park Pool in Fabens and Canutillo Pool in Gallegos Park, will open June 4.

The outdoor pool at the Pavo Real Aquatic Center,110 Presa, will open for the summer on Saturdays and Sundays from 4 to 8 p.m. beginning May 28-29, according to an El Paso Times report.

Admission is $3 for 18 and older, $2 for 3 to 17 yrs. olds, and free for those 2 and under.

The other two City of El Paso outdoor pools, Grandview and Nations Tobin, are currently nonoperational per the Times and expected to remain that way until they get much needed upgrades.
