City council voted unanimously to increase parking meter rates Downtown by a nickel, and keep "Free Parking Saturdays". The five cent increase means it will soon cost you and I a quarter per 15 minutes to park at a downtown meter, or one dollar an hour.

Council also came together on extending the free parking program, voting to continue to allow parking for free at meters within the shopping district on Saturdays. The El Paso Times reports the decision was made to keep “Free Parking Saturdays” another fiscal year to “encourage economic growth” and "promote and encourage shopping Downtown.”
