This weekend, the Downtown Art and Farmers Market will host “Shop Small Saturday” where shoppers will find unique handmade holiday gifts from the region’s most talented artists and craftsman.

Beginning at 9 a.m. through 1 p.m. on Anthony Street in the Union Plaza Entertainment shoppers will be able to find plenty of unique gift options from artwork and decorative crafts to handmade scarves and other accessories, perfect for that person who is hard to shop for or who already has everything.

Aside from shopping, there will be plenty of entertainment with live bluegrass and jazz, and there will be free arts and crafts activities for children. Visitors can stop by one of the eight food trucks in the food truck garden to sample specialty cuisine and beverages. Vendors will also be taking orders for holiday treats and deserts in the market food cottage.

Shop Small Saturday started in New England in 2010 as a counter movement to Black Friday and Cyber Monday. Shop Small Saturday encourages holiday shoppers to visit brick and mortar businesses that are small and local. The Downtown Art and Farmers Market opened in 2011 to create a market place for local artists and craftsman.
