Broadway in El Paso 2018 will feature Disney’s The Lion King and it will be the spectacular of the year.

Over the Thanksgiving holiday weekend I was privileged to have been flown out to New York City to see Disney’s The Lion King at the Minskoff Theatre and it was more than I could have ever imagined.

Disney’s The Lion King grips you immediately from the opening scene so do not show up late as Rafiki (mandrill) summons the Pride Land for all to come and see the newborn lion, Simba. The Lion King brings to life every single animal that is featured in the animated film and the costumes are simply phenomenal. Beginning with the flying birds, the dancing elephants and giraffes, antelopes and gazelles to the single field mouse, they are all brought to life. Apart from the costumes, I must mention that they managed to capture Simba’s mane perfectly as well as Scar’s evil tone and deceitful ways.

The costumes certainly brings this production to life however the cast seamlessly transforms from humans to animals as you soon begin to see every character as their animal role instead of a human behind the mask and costume. The children who portray the young Simba and Nala have more talent than I will ever posses in my life so don’t be surprised if the kids in the audience walk away with aspirations of joining their local community theatre.

Disney’s The Lion King would not be complete with out the rest of the cast which includes Mufassa, Timon, Pumbaa and the Hyena’s.

Watch out for the scene where Mufassa appears to Simba in the heavenly stars – I don’t want to spoil it for you, but it will blow your mind.

Timon and Pumbaa will have you laughing and so will the Hyena’s who do a fantastic job of bringing levity and darkness to the musical simultaneously.

Disney’s The Lion King is the one show you don’t want to miss, from the beautiful sets, wardrobe and the award winning music, it will be the talk of the town for weeks when it debuts in El Paso at the Plaza Theatre for a two-week run beginning May 30-June 10, 2018.

Tickets will officially go on sale on Monday, December 4, 2017 at 10 a.m. at all Ticketmaster outlets including the Plaza Theatre Box Office. There will also be a special on-sale event beginning at 7 a.m. at the Plaza Theatre where you can purchase your tickets before they go on sale to the general public.

Don’t miss the magical performance of Disney’s The Lion King in El Paso coming in 2018.
