The Diocese of El Paso will honor, bless, and pray for area law enforcement officers at a Blue Mass. Bishop Mark J. Seitz will celebrate the Mass for local law enforcement on September 21, at St. Patrick Cathedral at 11 a.m. The Cathedral is located at 113 N. Campbell.

The Blue Mass originated in 1934 in Washington, D.C. by a priest who began the Catholic Police and Firemen’s Society. That first Blue Mass was attended by over one thousand police and firemen dressed in blue uniforms. Blue Masses have been said around the country ever since then. It gives local communities the chance to gather to celebrate and thank first responders, police officers, firefighters, and EMS responders. It also serves to offer a blessing for those who serve the community.

We live in one of the safest cities in the United States, thanks to our first responders. They deserve our thanks and our prayers. Let's show them how much we appreciate them with this Blue Mass.
