The Vatican has issued new rules on cremation and what you can and can't do with the cremated remains of your loved ones. Basically, the Church would prefer an intact burial, but if you choose cremation, they don't want you to scatter ashes, split the ashes up, and they have to be put in a sacred place such as a church cemetery.

If you have cremated ashes of a loved one that have not been properly buried, the Diocese of El Paso is offering to bless them and bury them during All Souls Day Mass next week. Bishop Mark Seitz will be celebrating All Soul Mass on November 2 at 10 a.m. at Mt. Carmel Cemetery. You can bring your loved ones ashes to have them properly blessed and laid to rest at no cost to you.

Contact the Catholic Properties Office at 915-872-8406 to make arrangements for the burial. This is a lovely Mass and a wonderful way to lay your loved ones to rest.
