If you or your daughter would like to be a part of the 2017-18 Sun Court, you need to get on the ball and get your application in. Friday, June 23 is the last day to send in applications.

The El Paso Herald Post reports that in the early years of the Sun Court, there were about 30 young women who each represented an organization in El Paso. Now there are 8 – 10 young women on the Court and one Queen. Participants are selected on poise, appearance, personality, communication and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to demonstrate knowledge of El Paso.
The Sun Court isn’t just a bunch of pretty faces, either. The members of the Court serve as ambassadors for El Paso. Court members volunteer at community events and do personal appearances at the Western Refining College All-America Golf Classic, First Light Federal Credit Union Sun Bowl Parade, WestStar Bank Don Haskins Sun Bowl Invitational, Hyundai Sun Bowl Game, Academy Sports + Outdoors Sun Bowl International Soccer Tournament, the Helen of Troy Sun Court Charm Camp, and other events throughout their year on the Court.

Court members have to be enrolled as full-time students, have a cumulative grade point average of at least 2.5, and cannot hold any other title during the time they are members of the Sun Court. You can download the application to become a member of the Sun Court by going to the Sun Court website. Remember, the last day to apply is tomorrow.
