Construction Has Begun On Country Club Road With Detours Now In Place
Motorists, pedestrians, and cyclists who use Country Club Road will have to use alternate routes.
Contractors have closed Country Club Road from Doniphan Drive to Love Road to allow for the installation of concrete barriers necessary for construction to begin.
Country Club Road closed this morning to thru traffic from Doniphan Drive to River Run Street for the duration of the project.
Detours in place:
- Westbound thru traffic will be detoured north on Doniphan, west on Artcraft Road, and south on McNutt Road.
- Eastbound thru traffic will be detoured south on McNutt Road to Sunland Park Drive to Doniphan and Interstate 10.
- Local detours will be in place during each phase of the project to ensure residents, businesses, and other property owners have access at all times.
The detours are necessary to accommodate the installation of new utility lines and the complete reconstruction of the roadway. When completed, the Country Club Road project will add a continuous center left turn lane, provide a right turn lane at Montoya Drive, improve the intersection of Country Club Road and Love Road, and add a roundabout at the intersection of Country Club and Memory Lane.
Other upgrades include raised curbs, landscaped parkways, and pedestrian lighting.
Construction is expected to take 560 days and is being overseen by the City of El Paso’s Engineering and Construction Management Department.
