The black and white classic, Mildred Pierce starring Joan Crawford will be screened at Ardovino’s Desert Crossing on Sunday, May 17 at noon.

As an extended Mother’s Day celebration Ardovino’s Desert Crossing will be showing the1945 film noir drama classic, Mildred Pierce starring Oscar award winner Joan Crawford for her role as the leading lady, Mildred Pierce.

A discussion held by lifelong film fan, historian, archivist, writer and collector Jay Duncan will follow the movie and a brunch à la carte will also be available.

Joan Crawford stars as Mildred Pierce and tells the story of a woman who tries to rise above the circumstances after her cheating husband leaves her. Soon after she becomes independent and successful by opening up her own restaurant, but cannot seem to win the approval of her spoiled daughter.

Most recently back in 2011, Mildred Pierce was made into a TV mini series starring Kate Winslet, Guy Pearce and Evan Rachel Wood was produced as a five-part mini series on HBO.
