El Paso Public Libraries and Parks & Recreation have set the date for the 2019 Día de los Niños/Día de los Libros children's literacy event. And this year it's moving from Washington Park to downtown.

The 23rd annual celebration will take place on Saturday, April 27, at San Jacinto Plaza.

The schedule of activities hasn't been revealed yet, but typically, Día de los Niños includes live entertainment, jumping balloons, activity booths, and vendors. Thousands of books will be handed out and admission will be free, according to the event post.

There will be food booths set up, but if you want to hit up a restaurant in the area or pack a picnic basket with your own drinks and sandwiches that's cool too.

I’ll have more details as the event gets closer. For now, if your child likes to read or you want to get him or her interested in reading more then save the date; Saturday, April 27.
