You are no doubt aware that talking on your cellphone while you're behind the wheel is both not safe and illegal, right?  But that probably hasn't stopped you from doing it anyway, huh?

Well if you've been lucky enough to not get busted in the year and a half  the law has been in the books, you may be happy to know that if you get ticketed now  for texting or talking on your cellphone, and are a first time offender, you may get the option of  getting your fine dismissed.

All you'll have to do is agree to put a  "No Talking, No Texting" bumper sticker on the back of your car. City Rep. Steve Ortega was on the phone with us Wednesday morning discussing the program.

Ironically, while he was driving! Here's some of what he had to say ...

JUST ASKING: If given the option, would you just pay the $114 fine or are you down with slapping the sticker on the back of your car? Why or Why not? Do you feel an awareness campaign such as this will work, or do you think we're all pretty much aware we shouldn't talk and text while driving but we're going to do it anyway?
