Residents beware. The City of El Paso has beg its begun its trash can audit and having another trash bin could cost you big bucks.

The City Environmental Services Department is currently performing an audit of its gray trash cans to make sure everyone who has an extra can is properly billed for it. The cost for an extra gray trash bin is $16 plus tax per month per bin on your solid waste bill.

Residents who have extra bins that are not paid for will be contacted by mail to see if they would like to keep the additional bin and pay the extra month bill, or return it, which will cost you a $25 service fee to have the city remove it.

Residents can also drop off extra bins free of charge at the City warehouse at 4200 Delta.  They must present a water bill at the time the extra container is dropped off.  The facility is open Tuesday from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. and Thursday from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.

Customers are only allowed one blue recycling bin.

Have questions? Call 311 to have your bins removed.
