On August 3, 2019, a man came from the Dallas area and shot and killed 22 people in the Cielo Vista Walmart parking lot. El Paso Strong has become the city's motto ever since that day. It means we will get through this, it means we are strong and this disgusting human being won't take our city away from us, it means we know our city will survive.

The Chihuahuas are going to celebrate the El Paso community and commemorate the 22 innocent people who lost their lives that day. In addition to the game that night, there will be a color guard from the Border Patrol, and a moment of silence for the victims and the first responders. During the game, a special moment of silence will be observed. The crowd at the ballpark will be asked to stand united. After the game, there will be a fireworks spectacular choreographed to music and songs that will highlight the city of El Paso.

A portion of each fundraising ticket will be donated to the Paso del Norte’s El Paso Victims Fund. You can click here to buy tickets online. The Chihuahuas do a 50/50 raffle where the winner gets half the money from raffle ticket sales and the other will go to the Victims Fund.

If you go to the game, get there early because the first 7,000 fans through the gates will get an El Paso Strong rally towel. You'll also be able to bid on caps worn by the San Diego Padres during their August 8th batting practice with all proceeds going to the El Paso Victim’s Fund. You'll be able to bid on your phone through Text to Engage, a local mobile phone auction company beginning at noon on Saturday through noon on Tuesday.
