The El Paso Chihuahuas Chico will make his 1,000th community appearance in less than two years, today, April 12th, two days shy of his second birthday and three days away from the Chihuahuas home opener.

Chico the Chihuahua debuted on April 14, 2014, on our very own sister station and Chihuahuas flagship station, 600 ESPN El Paso.

Chico’s duties include game day entertainment, photos with fans as well as birthday parties, company outings, and parades and local school visits. As part of being an education ambassador Chico launched several education-based programs benefiting the El Paso and Las Cruces school districts including but not limited to the Chico Attendance Program, and Anti-Bullying Campaigns. As part of his education trail, Chico’s education campaign includes the program, “Chico’s Turn Up the Volume on Reading”, a learning presentation that allows students to create their own story by developing characters, plot twists, heroes and villains.

Chico will make his 1,000 appearance at the Gatorade Go Play event with the Blue Star Bombers little league football team. He will appear in front of 125 players on Tuesday, April 12 at 6:30 p.m. at Specialist Rafael Hernando III Middle School.
