The International Museum of Art on Montana is a real hidden El Paso gem. The Museum began its life as a home for William and Iva Turney who built the home 1908. It was designed by Henry Trost, the famed El Paso architect who designed so many of the amazing, historic buildings in downtown El Paso.

The home was deeded to the City of El Paso in 1940 and was the original El Paso Museum of Art. When the museum of art moved to downtown El Paso in 1998, the Turney home became the International Museum of Art. It houses an eclectic array of art, but it also features local artists, and on Saturday afternoons, it shows movies in the basement theater for free. This is truly a community space.

This coming weekend, you can get into the holiday spirit with the Museum during their Christmaszaar. There will be local arts and craft vendors, activities for kids, and even story time with Elf. If you haven't gotten your kids Santa pictures taken yet, get them taken during Christmaszaar. While you're enjoying Christmaszaar, make sure you wander around the museum, see their current exhibits and take a bunch of really Instagrammable photos.
