You know we love us the movies here at KISS FM, and we also love the history of our city. That's why a walking tour of downtown movie theaters is right up our alley.

The El Paso Museum of History will be doing a walking tour of South El Paso Street that highlights the history of El Paso’s movie theaters. The tour will start off in front of the Plaza Theatre and is part of a series of walking tours by the Museum that will happen the last Thursday of each month through September.

The tour will stop at locations that were once classic El Paso theaters. They'll discuss the history of each location during the walk. You can check out a comprehensive history of local theaters in this article from the El Paso Herald Post.

The El Paso Museum of History is also working with the El Paso Community Foundation and the Plaza Classic Film Festival about the history of El Paso’s movie palaces. You can see the exhibit called South El Paso Street: Broadway of the Southwest at the Museum of History that will feature a series of talks about El Paso’s classic movie theaters.

Call the El Paso Museum of History at (915) 212-0320 or visit history.elpasotexas.gov for more details and a schedule of events.
